November 2015 Parent Newsletter

NOVEMBER has always been our favorite month at Compass Ministry and this November is no different.  We are excited to be preparing for our 3rd Annual Educator Breakfast which will be held at Grace Church on Saturday, November 21st from 9-11am.  This is a very special time when Compass invites area Christian educators called to the public schools to gather as we appreciate them for their obedience in bringing the Light of Christ into our students' schools.

HAPPY FALL COMPASS PARENTS!

I didn't realize how remarkable this was until I stood in front of 94 educators from 24 districts at our first breakfast in 2013.  Among that group were two of my children's teachers at the time.   Seeing them standing in worship, knowing their love for our Lord and trusting that they would allow that Light to fill their classrooms where my students spent their days literally brought me to tears.  They played an important role in my children's lives and I was grateful that they didn't take that responsibility lightly.  They came that morning to be equipped to, not check their faith at their school door, but to live it boldly and authentically.  They came to learn their legal rights and connect with other Christian educators within the public schools for encouragement and support.  They came to pray for their schools, students and colleagues and be commissioned out onto their mission field.  The meeting ended at 11am, at 1pm people were still milling about, grateful to have this opportunity to connect with others who walked in their shoes, knew their challenges.

This year we anticipate close to 200 educators from throughout the metro and beyond to join us for this amazing morning.  We are trusting God to do great things…He already is.  So, why am I telling you all of this???  WE NEED YOUR HELP!  Would you consider helping us in one of these ways..??

1-PRAY

Please pray for our morning.  Pray that the many details would come together, that educators would be able to attend, would be bold in inviting colleagues and that God would reveal Himself in powerful ways that morning.  Pray for our guest speakers, area teachers willing to share how God is using them for His glory in their schools, and for our keynote speaker, David Schmus, from Christian Educators Association.  David will be challenging each to consider how God might be calling them personally to transform their schools through God's love and truth.  Pray that each educator would leave feeling loved, encouraged, appreciated and challenged to live out God's calling on their lives.

2-INVITE

Please prayerfully consider which Christian public school educators God may be prompting you to invite. This is a FREE event and we are praying for 200 educators to fill the Grand Commons that morning (we had 140 last year.)  This is for all who work in our schools, teachers, administrators, paras, office staff, nurses, custodial staff, bus drivers, etc.  Ask God and see who He may be laying on your heart.  Then, personally invite them via email or in person.  The details are on the attached flier along with registration information.  They will be blessed!

3-SERVE

Two opportunities to serve:

1-We need you and/or each of your children to write a note (or 2 or 3?) of thanks to an educator(s).  Maybe thank them for all they do to bring the light of Christ into their school and classroom?  For the role they play and the impact they have as well as how grateful you are to know there are educators like them who live their faith in our schools?  Our plan is to present each of them with a note at their table.  We hope this will help them feel the appreciation and love we all have for them!  No uniform card or format required, just a small notecard you might have laying around and words from your heart.

Please mail them by November 13th to:

2- Would you consider serving our teachers at this event?  To pull this morning off we need people!  We need greeters, registration table, sales table, help with set up and take down and some smiling faces to give them hugs and tell them how much they are appreciated.  There will be opportunities for set up Friday late afternoon/evening and the rest of the opportunities are Saturday, Nov 21 from 8:30-11am.  For more information or to sign up, contact Mindy Heine at compassinfo@compasslink.org

THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING!!

Thank you for sharing our excitement and for your help appreciating this special group of people.  God Bless!

For His Glory!
